No decision to evacuate South Africans stuck in coronavirus-hit Wuhan - Dirco

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared the coronavirus outbreak an international public health emergency.
Amy Pittaway, who teaches English in Wuhan is stuck in the city due to the coronavirus outbreak.
She says she realised the seriousness of the epidemic when classes and work were cancelled on the 21 January.
Bongani Bingwa chats to Pittaway and Department of International Relations and Cooperation (Dirco) spokesperson Lunga Ngqengelele to shed light on the situation in Wuhan.
We are still in lockdown and for the next three days, they have the city down even more because they believe that the virus is at its peak. Ngqengelele says there is no decision in terms of evacuating South Africans who are stuck in Wuhan.
We are going to hear from the Department of Health, who is currently speaking to WHO on whether is necessary to evacuate our people. We have so far not been given that indication as yet.Lunga Ngqengelele, Spokesperson - Dirco
He says the message he has for those stuck in Wuhan is to observe regulations that they are being given by the local authorities.
