Scroll down to hear the emotional moment unfold on-air!
My name is Sakhile Khoza, I’m 30 years of age and I come from the east of Johannesburg, in a township called Kwa-Thema just next to Springs. I am a passionate visual communicator and find expression through the art of coding, with my core focus being motion graphics and subsequently front-end web development, photography, sound and graphic design.
I have been steadily trying to defy the odds for a good two years now, by studying with an array of challenges such as not having the adequate equipment or the financial strength to enrol myself into a motion graphics course. I soldier on each day using free tutorials with the attitude of gaining a broader more deeper understanding, in the hope of ultimately unlocking a dream. I kindly reach out to you using this email to respectfully appeal for any assistance regarding any of the above.
I use a substandard computer which makes it near impossible to successfully execute tasks, as the system requirements for motion graphics are extremely high. I’m truly saddened by this reality, as it is and has the potential of stunting my growth. In the interest of buying myself a second-hand laptop from Cash Crusaders, with the very minimum specs required, and above the difficulties of unemployment, I have thus far been able to put together a R1000 towards this mission. As this is a moving target purely based on stock availability, my research has shown between R3500 - R6500, would most likely be my best buy.
I’m kindly appealing for any assistance in this regard.
Yours sincerely: S.L. Khoza
(He has since managed to raise cash and bought himself a second-hand laptop). He now needs an entry-level camera. He has raised about R1000 towards it and needs about R3 000 more.
