Face to Face with Dr Kopano Matlwa Mabaso
At just 21, Dr Kopano Matlwa Mabaso, had written a best-selling and critically acclaimed novel ‘Coconut’: A coming of age story set in post-Apartheid South Africa, which tackles the delicate issues of identity politics. She wrote that debut novel book while studying towards a medical degree at UCT.
Since then, this young writer has written and published two other works, ‘Period Pain’ and ‘Spilt Milk’. She’s also a Rhodes scholar and has just recently submitted her PHD thesis in Public Health at Oxford University.
