[VIDEO] Have you ever seen a spider eating a bird?

A Twitter account, aptly named ‘Nature is Scary’ recently shared a terrifying video of a spider eating a bird.

The 54-second clip shows the giant tarantula hanging on a wooden beam with its back legs while holding on to an entire bird with its front legs.

The spider is believed to be a pink toe tarantula which according to the Smithsonian’s National Zoo & Conservation Biology Institute are native to the rainforests of South America.

The active predators prey on a variety of invertebrates as well as small vertebrates like mice, frogs and lizards.

Females have a leg span of 11-13 centimetres, while males average closer to 9 centimetres.
